Gaudenz Badrutt

(livesampling – electronics & computer)

He began as a pianist in the field of contemporary classic music and works since more than 20 years as an electronics musician in the field of improvised electroacoustic music.
He is best known in current times as an improvising electronics musician using computers (sampling) and various other electronic apparatus such as usual distortion devices, no-input-mixing or modular-synthesizer. Filigree, minimal noises, drones and dense structures are key characteristics of his music. Central to Badrutt’s activities are collaborations such as the duo with Jonas Kocher (accordion), the duo with Hans Koch (clarinet, sopranosaxophone), and the trio with Koch and Kocher as well as the working-band duo strøm with Christian Müller (electronics). In the last few years, solo-performances became important too. He is further occupied in the fields of electronic composition, sound & video installation and videos (like ‚magma‘ and ‚Quiet Novosibirsk‘).
